Amazon killed the box retailers over Christmas. Today they all crashed.
My friend was long Macys (Go figure.)
But he’s smart. He sells calls against his Macys.
He makes $4 for the now worthless calls. Macys is down 18.4% today.
But so are his shares. They’re $25.91. He sold his calls when they were $32.
So he’s down $6 on the shares, but up $4 on the calls.
Why didn’t he short Macys?
That’s the question. Different mentality to buying shares and holding them. His mentality.
Messed up, like mine. I’m not good at selling short either. I sell short. Then the stock goes up. I panic. I cover. Then they go down.
There are easier ways to have fun.

Last year of Macys:
Don’t do stupid
+ Don’t pour liquid fat down your sink’s drain.
+ Install a night light in your bedroom. Hence you won’t fall over the dog on your way to the bathroom.
+ Don’t forget to turn on WiFi Calling on your iPhone or other smartphone. Don’t forget to turn on your phone when you get back from the theater.
+ Don’t erase old setup software. I tried to install my Dymo labelprinter on my new laptop. Dymo’s web site offered version 8.7. It didn’t work. I tried twice. I. I found an old version 8.5 on an backup drive. I erased the new version and installed the old version. Worked like a charm. Never ever erase old software.

Old but good
After retiring, I went to the Social Security office to apply for Social Security.
The woman behind the counter asked me for my driver’s license to verify my age.
I looked in my pockets and realized I had left my wallet at home. I told the woman that I was very sorry, but I would have to go home and come back later.
The woman said, ‘Unbutton your shirt’.
So I opened my shirt revealing my curly silver hair.
She said, ‘That silver hair on your chest is proof enough for me’ and she processed my Social Security application.
When I got home, I excitedly told my wife about my experience at the Social Security office.
She said, ‘You should have dropped your pants. You would have gotten disability too.’
Harry Newton, whose big accomplishment today was washing Rosie. You cannot outsource dog grooming. And there are no tariffs on dog grooming. I’ve found the perfect industry — at least before it goes to the dogs… (Sorry about that.)
