Strategies for “Sell in May and Go away.” Time to move to a plant-based diet. Many people believe plants (not red meat or sugar) have saved their lives.

Sell in May and Go away — until October.

Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn’t.

We’ve had a big run this year. Nasdaq is up at an annualized rate of 89% so far this year.

Lots of huge IPOs are coming, potentially sucking liquidity out of the market.

Some observers — like Cramer on CNBC — are saying “Be wary.”

I like the idea of picking up some beaten down favorites like UNH (United Health) and FDX (FedEx).

I have low-ball orders in on many stocks (AMZN, AAPL, NKE, LADR, BRKA)) —  most of which will never be filled.

But you never know.

Infrequently I get lucky. (That’s also the punch line for a bad joke about whether that’s one word or two?)

A plant-based diet will:

+ Help you lose weight.

+ Protect you from awful diseases like diabetes and heart disease (the number 1 killer).

+ Cure many diseases you’re taking pills for today.

You owe it to yourself and your family to watch the documentary Forks over Knives. It’s on Netflix. I watched it last night. I was mesmerized. It will change my life. I mean that. Please watch it.

I’m buying this book today on Amazon:

News of note

+ The Fed kept interest rates steady, saying inflation and the economy were fine.

+ A two-year CD is now 2.98%. Check Bankrate.com.

+ Vladimir Putin signed a law for Russia to have a “sovereign internet,” separate from the global web. The bill  will force internet service providers to filter traffic through Russia’s state Internet censor. Another reason not to do business there.

+ Iran’s national currency, the rial, has dropped to historic lows — one US dollar, which was 35,000 rials in November 2017, now buys nearly 130,000 rials. Depressing countries run by dictators — like Iran, Russia, Turkey and Venezuela — have currencies that plummet as the dictators tighten their grips with journalist jailings, opponent house arrests, demonstrator killings, etc. I’ve tried to short dictator currencies once with no luck. No one wants the other side of the trade. Can’t blame them.

Favorite recent New Yorker cartoons:

Harry Newton, who is trimming stocks he owns whose growth is slowing and are losing money.

Tomorrow we get the monthly employment numbers. Should be good.

Berkshire Hathaway’s annual meeting is this weekend. BRKA is up about 12% in the past year. It’s been a rocky ride. But imagine how well you would have done — had you had an ultra-low limit buy order in at say $285,000? My newest strategy!!

It’s Spring in New York. Perfect biking weather….

For your grandchildren (before I forget):

If April showers bring May flowers, what do May flowers bring?

Why, Pilgrims, of course.
