Morning, Harry
I spent years fighting with Outlook pst files, just as you described. Nightmare, frustrating, nobody at Microsoft Support could ever explain why they use pst files. At some point I started making new ones, storing old pst files, but then finding data that way became even more frustrating and an endless time sink.
Then my kid Elliot had to have Apple for school, and to keep the story short, I did end up with a MacBook pro. Zero issues since then! Email client works differently but also runs every email address I’ve got through msn and Google.
I’ve never looked back. Susanna, of course, being a dyed in the wool Microsoftie will never shift to apple, but she’s got issues all the time, though for some providence in her corner of the world, no Outlook pst file issues.
The other thing about mac OS is that it cleans itself up each time you do an update, whereas PC machines get slower and slower over time. I used to have to reformat my drives once a year to hedge this. But no more. I’m still running a 2013 MacBook pro and it’s as fast at the day I got it. Also replaced PC tower w/ a mac mini.

I’m off to the Apple Store this morning and I’m buying even more Apple stock. And I won’t regale you with what happened last night, when, in desperation, I called Microsoft support. Suffice, they gave uselessness a whole new meaning.Took only two hours to not solve my problem.

Here is the reason among many thay I use MS
Microsoft. Why?
For starters, quality is no longer a significant issue (thank goodness). Microsoft’s applications work better now than ever before and I sincerely thank Apple and Google for that. Of course there are sometimes still problems (and let’s not deny that Apple and Google also have blips too) but my and my clients’ experience is that the quality of Microsoft’s products have substantially improved. Application errors are recovered. Blue screens of death rarely happen. New drivers and hardware are instantly recognized. Even starting up a new Windows 8 laptop takes a minute, or less if you just leave it in sleep mode. Apple, in particular, has introduced a quality to software and hardware that has saved us from many hours of wasted time and I am grateful that the good people at Microsoft have continued to do what they always do and that is to copy the best of their competitors’ products and incorporate those features into their own. Improving the speed, performance or productivity of a company’s infrastructure is not the reason (anymore) for moving away from Microsoft.
The headaches are not necessary. Apple technicians are harder to find than Microsoft people. There are significantly fewer independent Apple programmers and support people around the world. There are nowhere near the number of native Mac business applications for higher end accounting, customer relationship management and Office as for a Windows environment. Like many of my clients with employees who insist on using Apple products you are going to be spending time and money on software to run Windows locally on their MacBooks so that they can access your Windows based network and use your Windows based applications that everyone else is using. You are not bleeding edge. You are not a tinkerer. You are not a technologist. You do not like to change things unless there is a real reason for changing. And for most companies of a certain size, there is no compelling reason to change your Microsoft infrastructure. You could absolutely move to an all Apple environment. You could get rid of Office and start using Google Apps. You could replace your Microsoft SQL databases with other competing products. But the headaches aren’t necessary and will likely be a distraction from your core business.
That’s an awfully long thing to write considering that maybe two people read this.
You’re wrong. Totally wrong. Our friend wrote a thoughtful piece, which thoughtful people will read. I’m very appreciative that he wrote it.
Harry at some point you’re going to have to deal with all of it, you’re not going to be able to just delete it away. The clock is ticking. The walls are closing in quickly. Rachel Chandler has been interrogated throughly. Epstein is dead because he meant more to Trump as a victim of Clinton suicide. And let’s not forget about the Weiner/Huma laptop computer. Just wait until you see why the NYPD detectives began vomiting.

Microsoft is not for everyone. I believe Apple is good for you, Harry. I like your photo. That’s more fun than wasting time on debugging Microsoft. Personally I use Microsoft since day one and I see issues. I am a software engineer and know how to mess up with it. It serves me very well. Most companies use Microsoft (not Apple) for a reason which I don’t want to elaborate to annoy our friends with MacBook,.
