Canon’s new G16.<\/strong> <\/span>Canon has released a G16, which is marginally improved over my favorite G15 (see photo on right). The G16 is $549. The G15 is a better deal at $439. Click here.<\/strong><\/a> I’ll be writing more when I get my hands on a G16 (probably at B&H). For now, I love my G15. It’s my “go-to” camera. It’s powerful and pocketable. The only reason I’d upgrade to a G16 is if the shutter lag is shorter.<\/p>\n Shutter lag is critical when you’re photographing fast-moving objects — like children. For them I use my DSLR (digital single lens reflex) — a Nikon D7100 with an 18 mm to 200 mm. But it’s much heavier and nearly five times as expensive.<\/p>\n The changing world of eyeglasses. <\/strong>At your local eyeglass retail store, you’ll easily spend $250 for a pair eyeglasses with prescription lenses. At Warby Parker you’ll spend $95. But at ZenniOptical you’ll spend $20 to $40, which includes the frame and the lenses. I just bought two pairs with my new prescription for $71.85 — less than I’ve been spending at my local optical store to replace two lenses in an old frame. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Susan says my taste in glasses stinks. Me thinks she might be happy with this: From Zenni, it’s $19, which includes my own prescription lenses. Why not?<\/p>\n
