The iPhone 5S does a wonderful job of video and its “shared stream” software feature is a beautiful way of sharing videos and photos with the family. Michael is using it to share photos of newborn granddaughter, Eleanor\u00a0 (the reason I’m in Portland, Oregon) with all of us. It’s truly neat software. Take the video or photo, hit share and Apple cloud distributes it to all the family members with iPhones — which, today, is everyone.<\/p>\n +Watch shows and movies when you want to. Not on the network’s schedule. Roku 3 or Apple TV will stream Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, PBS and a million other “channels” to whenever you want. These $99 boxes are super fantastic. Buy the Roku 3 if you’re not an Apple household. If you are, get Apple TV.\u00a0 Roku has more channels, which is why I prefer it.<\/p>\n + Nike flyknits are the sneaker of the year — the most comfortable shoe\/sneaker I’ve ever owned. Not cheap. But your family will love you for saving their feet. This is called by the stupid name of Nike Flyknit Lunar 1+. Irrespective, it’s a great shoe.<\/p>\n + Outback Flashlight’s TAC ACE is the greatest, most powerful, small flashlight every built. At $10 it makes a great present for the guy who has all. I use my Dahon MuSL for going to meetings, taking on the subway to tennis, running to the bank, doing errands. You can check folding bikes into coat rooms, hide them behind you in a restaurant, put them in your car’s trunk and store them in your closet. The more expensive weigh less. Tern is the newer maker. It has tiny bicycles with 20″ wheels and one with 26″ wheels. It much more fun to get around town on bicycle.<\/p>\n + Timex Weekenders are attractive watches. They have one plus — indiglo. You push the stem and you can read the time in the dark. No other watch maker has this unbelievably useful technology.
