Just glanced at my Vanguard funds — VXF (biggest holding), VXUS, VBR and VTI. All are doing nicely. A lot easier than doing it for yourself. Probably more successful, too.<\/p>\n

\u00a0A friend is buying Vanguard bond funds as interest rates continue to plummet. The world outside of the U.S. is buying American bonds. It’s called The Safe Haven Play.<\/em> I’m sticking with equities. They’re buying them too. If you live in Europe, Russia or the Middle East, wouldn’t you want money in the safest haven of them all — the U.S.<\/p>\n

Apple today said that the hack of celebrity photos did not include a breach of iCloud or Find My iPhone.<\/p>\n

Instead, “certain celebrity accounts were compromised by a very targeted attack on user names, passwords, and security questions, a practice that has become all too common on the Internet,” Apple said in a statement.<\/p>\n

“None of the cases we have investigated has resulted from any breach in any of Apple’s systems including iCloud or Find my iPhone,” according to the company.<\/p>\n

Cupertino said it came to this conclusion after “more than 40 hours of investigation,” and is working with law enforcement officials to track down the hackers.<\/p>\n

“When we learned of the theft, we were outraged and immediately mobilized Apple’s engineers to discover the source,” Apple said in its statement. “Our customers’ privacy and security are of utmost importance to us.”<\/p>\n

Going forward, Apple encouraged users to “always use a strong password and enable two-step verification<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n

Apple’s statement comes after a hacker on Sunday posted dozens of photos featuring nude celebrities on the Internet. The photos appeared to have come from the actresses’ phones, and in the immediate aftermath, there were questions about whether the hackers had obtained the photos via a hack of iCloud.<\/p>\n

Ever since I switched to a two-level password on getting into this blog, I haven’t suffered any targeted attacks and I’ve been able to get in with no problems. I’m going to do that today with my banks, brokerage accounts, etc.<\/p>\n
