The highlights of this two-day $7,500 seminar are the sessions called “Best Idea<\/em>.” Hedgies get up and push their favorite long or short.<\/p>\n

Sometimes they’re right. Last year someone pushed Petrobras (PBR) was the world’s best short. He was right.<\/p>\n

Someone pushed Micron was the world’s best long. He was wrong. Horribly so.<\/p>\n

Maybe we’ll do better this year. Even if we don’t, the money goes to charity — fighting poverty in New York City.<\/p>\n

Touring Fifth Avenue<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Late last week I visited the Microsoft and Tag Heuer retail stores on Fifth Avenue.<\/div>\n
Microsoft sells overpriced Surface pseudo laptops. Tag Heuer sells a way over priced “connected” watch for $1,500 — about\u00a0 three times what I bought my Apple Watch for. Across the road from Microsoft and Tag Heuer is the Uniqlo store which sells stuff you might actually buy.<\/div>\n

Saturday was Eleanor’s second birthday. Here’s her and her new, favorite toy — a cash register.<\/p>\n

The thing comes with real, fake money. Punch a few buttons. The drawer flies open and sprays coins everywhere — which thrills her. She’s not permitted screen time — TV, phone or iPad. But she is permitted to own her own cash register. Go figure.<\/p>\n
