Especially in a time when neither party is promulgating pro-growth policies, gridlock is the best outcome for economy and for markets because, if nothing else, it minimizes uncertainty.<\/div>\n<div style=\"padding-left: 30px; text-align: left;\">+ Howard Dean said the Democrats should scrap the current bill and start over with something small and easy to understand that expands coverage.<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">And on CNBC this morning, &#8220;It was a referendum. It was a big one.&#8221; &#8212; Warren Buffett.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Can your business use this new tax break? <span style=\"font-weight: normal;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">From a Gretchen Morgenson, NY Times \u00a0column:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px; text-align: left;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">On November 6, President Obama signed the Worker, Homeownership and Business Assistance Act of 2009 into law, extending unemployment benefits by 20 weeks and renewing the first-time homebuyer tax credit until next April.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px; text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">But tucked inside the law was another prize: a tax break that lets big companies offset losses incurred in 2008 and 2009 against profits booked as far back as 2004. The tax cuts will generate corporate refunds or relief worth about $33 billion, according to an administration estimate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px; text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Before the bill became law, the so-called look-back on losses was limited to small businesses and could be used to counterbalance just two years of profits. Now the profit offset goes back five years, and the law allows big companies to take advantage of it, too. The only companies that can&#8217;t participate are Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and any institution that took money under the Troubled Asset Relief Program.<\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Clay Henley&#8217;s sites. <span style=\"font-weight: normal;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> I asked my friend Clay Henley, a VP with J.P. Its data service is better than its voice service. Some AT&amp;T customers carry an iPhone for the data and a cheap Verizon cell phone for the voice service. Your choice. Be warned.<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Apple continues to do well. From Business Insider, &#8220;<span style=\"color: #000000; font-weight: normal;\">After the recession knocked out the Mac&#8217;s growth story, it&#8217;s back on the rise,  thanks to the awesome 27-inch iMacs and more affordable MacBook Pro.\u00a0Mac  retail sales in the U.S., tracked by NPD Group, are up around 26% year-over-year  for the December quarter, according to analysis by Piper Jaffray analyst Gene  Munster.&#8221;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Next week, Apple will introduce its tablet &#8212; its version of the Kindle, but in color. It will fly off the shelves.
