I started to write a learned piece on celebrating July 4. Skip it. I’m now 76. Susan will be 75 tomorrow. The family is healthy and happy.<\/p>\n Today\u00a0The New York Times<\/em> carried a piece concluding “A new study suggests that humans have yet to reach the utmost upper bound of age.”<\/p>\n Since 1900, average life expectancy around the globe has more than doubled, thanks to better public health, sanitation and food supplies. But a new study of long-lived Italians indicates that we have yet to reach the upper bound of human longevity.<\/p>\n “If there’s a fixed biological limit, we are not close to it<\/strong>,” said Elisabetta Barbi, a demographer at the University of Rome. Dr. Barbi and her colleagues published their research Thursday in the journal Science.<\/em><\/p>\n You can read the full piece here.<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>Take your time. You now have plenty of it.<\/p>\n Sadly the longevity article doesn’t have a sure-fire formula for long life. No magic bullet.<\/p>\n So, stick with Harry’s magic bullets:<\/p>\n + Keep moving. Play tennis, go biking, running or swimming. Do something. But keep moving. Every day.<\/p>\n + Nap twice a day for at least 20 minutes.<\/p>\n + Limit stress. Don’t commit to stuff which leads to stress, like investments you can’t sell, or jobs with abusive bosses. Or, situations you can’t control.<\/p>\n + Don’t do stupid. Drive slowly. Watch the bottom step. Get your infirmities (knees, hips, etc.) fixed before it’s too late.<\/p>\n + Enjoy life with the family. This one was an infectious laugh. I’ll do anything to make Sophie laugh, even feeding her Dairy Queen ice cream with sprinkles. She ate the whole thing, ice cream and cone. An amazing feat.<\/p>\n Berkshire Hathaway owns DQ. Their cheeseburgers (which I ate) are actually pretty good. I had one. I suspect they’ve been improved recently. McDonalds have also.<\/p>\n Wimbledon is playing<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Ballet dancer Roger Federer is still in the tournament. He just signed a $200 \/ $300 million clothing sponsorship contract with Uniqlo. But I can’t buy any of the RF Uniqlo stuff Roger is wearing at Wimbledon. Go figure! Tennis is on ESPN, the Tennis Channel, etc.<\/p>\n I get RoboCalls<\/strong><\/p>\n I can’t stop them, nor block them. I hang up on “unknown” callers. Click here.<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Two New Yorker cartoons I love<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Caring words from a pilot<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n During a commercial airline flight an experienced Air Force Pilot was seated next to a young mother with a babe in arms.<\/p>\n When the baby began crying during the descent for landing, the mother began nursing the infant as discreetly as possible.<\/p>\n The pilot pretended not to notice, and, upon disembarking, he gallantly offered his assistance to help with the various baby-related items.<\/p>\n When the young mother expressed her gratitude, the pilot responded, “that’s a good looking baby, and he sure was hungry!”<\/p>\n Somewhat embarrassed, the mother explained that her pediatrician said that the time spent on the breast would help alleviate the pressure in the baby’s ears.<\/p>\n The Air Force Pilot sadly shook his head, and in true pilot fashion exclaimed,<\/p>\n “And all these years, I’ve been chewing gum.”<\/p>\n![\"TheNewYorkerCover\"](\"https:\/\/www.technologyinvestor.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/TheNewYorkerCover.jpg\")
