The core of my portfolio — tech shares —\u00a0 cratered today. Down 2.7%.<\/p>\n

I’m not sure I understand exactly why. I have some theories. In recovering from their March 2020 bottoms, they’ve simply reached some sort of natural plateau — for now. I’m guessing tech will be back in fashion and will resume its climb. Growth continues strong in tech. There’s nowhere else you’ll find\u00a0 it as strong.<\/p>\n

Here are a few five year charts showing the “pause”\u00a0 I’m talking about.<\/p>\n

Today Nasdaq is down. But Dow is up. I own some Dow stocks — DIS, GE, HD, NKE, PG, JPM, UNH, and WMT. Few of the others appeal. I’m mulling.<\/p>\n

I don’t think we’re in The BIG rotation. We’re pausing.<\/p>\n

The BIG news is air travel is bouncing back. I put this chart together, using numbers from TSA.gov. I did my own calculations in Excel. Pretty impressive for an old guy who was never an Excel aficionado. (Send compliments by email.)<\/p>\n

I own LUV (Southwest Airline) and JETS (an ETF of airlines). They’re up a little, but should be doing better based on the incredible resurgence of air travel.<\/p>\n

Synopsys software powers AI (chips and software)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Synopsys is an amazing company. The New York Times Saturday had a very positive piece on them — NO Shortage of New Ideas or Buzz for Semiconductors<\/em>. Click here.\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>With the heavy press, you’d think they’d be up today big-time. But, no, they fell 3.9%.<\/p>\n

Read the article. Check their earnings out. They have earnings and they’re growing. They’re in the right place at the right time. It’s an impressive story.<\/p>\n

More useful tips<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

+ Ask Google for anything. Ask YouTube for anything. It’s amazing how you’ll find help with Excel to changing the ailing battery on your laptop.<\/p>\n

+ LED bulbs will save you over 85% on electricity. But you must buy bulbs of 3000K or less. Anything higher, e.g. 5000K, will be bright white and painful.<\/p>\n

+ Apple’s iPhone has features I really like:<\/p>\n

— WiFi calling. Much better than cell calling. Real phone calls, like the old days.<\/p>\n

— Personal hotspot. Gives your laptop WiFi in remote places, like in your car.<\/p>\n

— Deposit checks instantly by taking pictures of them.<\/p>\n

— Photostream and FaceTime for the kids.<\/p>\n

— The iPhone 12 Pro Max’s camera. It’s stunning — better than all other iPhone models. I no longer need a scanner.<\/p>\n

— Speech recognition. If my iPhone can understand my “earthy” Australian accent, it can understand yours.<\/p>\n

How to connect to your home or office WiFi<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

+ There are two ways to connect to your WiFi — 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz. The 2.4 GHz is slow, but goes farther. 5 GHz is faster, but doesn’t go as far. Here’s a test. I’m about 20 foot from the Netgear wireless router. the first is connecting at 5 GHz. The second at 2.4 GHz. Huge difference.
