Between Friday and yesterday I was down 5%.<\/p>\n

I was thinking: This was it. We are going down 29%, and I’d lose my all the huge gains of the past few weeks.<\/p>\n

I started reading on hedge funds (remember them?). You sell short stocks that are going down. And pair those gains against losses in your happy portfolio — the stocks you want to keep.<\/p>\n

But I’m lousy at picking stocks that are going down.<\/p>\n

For now, I’ll stick with my old “strategy:” If a stock I own drops 15%, I eye it very carefully. Is there something fundamentally wrong with the company or is it just temporary? Take Regeneron. A important drug failed tests. Does that mean the company’s kaput? (No) Hence. hang on.<\/p>\n

I don’t think this is brilliant. I need to do more thinking.<\/p>\n

Several friends have suggested “harvesting” some profits and some losses — and edging back to a more “normal” strategy of “hold.”<\/p>\n

I think a lot depends on how the market reacts to Nvidia’s earnings tomorrow (Wednesday) night<\/strong> — since that will be a good window on AI stocks that have done so well recently –\u00a0 like the semiconductor and memory makers. A bunch of analyst have recently come out with very positive recommendations on Nvidia.<\/p>\n

We’ll see. I’m hanging in.<\/p>\n

The ReBirth of Intel (Finally)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

I’ve had a long history with Intel — most of it awful.<\/p>\n

Until they\u00a0made\u00a0Lip-Bu Tan CEO in March.<\/p>\n

Then Intel exploded, viz.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Then I heard his two-part interview with Cramer on Mad Money<\/em> last night. That was Monday May 18.<\/p>\n

I was blown away. Literally blown away.<\/p>\n

I ‘ve heard a lot of CEOs. But this one is good. Really good.<\/p>\n

He ranks with Jensen as one of the handful of living great tech CEOs.<\/p>\n

Will Intel go higher? You betcha?<\/p>\n

Will it be the CPU maker of the AI biz?<\/p>\n

You betcha.<\/p>\n

Do we need oodles of CPUs in AI. Yes. big time.<\/p>\n

(Remember, Nvidia makes CPUs.)<\/p>\n

Watching\u00a0Lip-Bu Tan<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

I watch TV on YouTubeTV. It has three advantages:<\/p>\n

+ I can watch it on TVs, laptops, and iPhones and most everywhere. Including when I travel.<\/p>\n

+ I can watch old shows. Like re-watch the Lip-Bu Tan interview.<\/p>\n

+ I can rewind, fast forward (over the commercials) and pause it to have dinner or to take notes. An hour show for me is 20 minutes, by fast forwarding.<\/p>\n

I prefer to watch tennis on my laptop in bed. I can see the ball on my 13 inch laptop screen better than I can see on my distant 55 inch on the wall.<\/p>\n

Don’t do stupid<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Hold the railing. Step down gingerly.<\/p>\n

Don’t fall. If you do, you’ll break your hip, be in hospital and then, six months, later, it’s all over.<\/p>\n

You’ve heard this before. But friends keep falling and fracturing their hip.<\/p>\n

I heard another one yesterday.<\/p>\n

Go gingerly on stairs or on uneven surfaces.<\/p>\n

The Hantavirus is serious and spreading<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

+ Our government is less able to deal with it, having denuded our CDC and other fighting abilities.<\/p>\n

+ The incubation period can as long as two months, Which means someone not showing symptoms in that time can still transmit the virus.<\/p>\n

+ We used to think it came only from rat droppings, but it is transferable by respiratory between humans,<\/p>\n

+ We don’t have any vaccine or drugs to fight it.<\/p>\n

+ There are now cases all over the U.S. , in at least 16 states.<\/p>\n

I knew people who died of covid. I don’t want to know anyone who died of hantavirus. Please be careful.<\/p>\n

I’ll be back tomorrow.<\/p>\n
