Every retailer is offering discounts.<\/strong><\/span> I bought a sweater yesterday at Banana Republic. It was 40% off.\u00a0 Lands End is offering me 25% off. Groupon is offering 45% off on custom jeans. No one pays retail any longer, even the Christians.<\/p>\n

Old punch line: Why did God invent Christians?<\/p>\n

Because someone has to pay retail.<\/p>\n

Bernanke is speaking today at 2:15 PM.<\/strong><\/span> You won’t learn anything about all his secret deals — dishing out money to his friends, like the Government of Libya.\u00a0 You have to recognize the Fed Reserve is our second government, except that it’s totally unregulated and unaccountable to anyone. I think this is the first press conference ever by a Fed Reserve boss. And it will only last 45 minutes. This gives “disgraceful” a whole new meaning.<\/p>\n

One day I’ll publish some of the sad emails I get from older people struggling to survive on the non-existent interest they receive on their savings. Bernanke keeps interest rates low so he can “stimulate” the economy. That program has dumped billions of profits into our banks, paid for by\u00a0 our older Americans — while unemployment has stayed high. I hope someone asks Bernanke when he expects his low interest rates are expected to provide a few jobs and help oldtimers.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile Bernanke’s low interest rates drive down the U.S. dollar. Wait till you see inflation in the next year or so, as pricier imported goods take their toll. Anyone paid $5 a gallon for gas? You soon will. Yuch.<\/p>\n

Of course, there’s nothing Harry (or any of us can do about this), except eye our investments (and don’t buy gas guzzlers):<\/p>\n

+ You should have money overseas. The Australian dollar is up to $1.07. Which is amazing. Canada, Australia and Switzerland are well managed. Australia’s EWA is up 35% in my portfolio. BHP is up 31%. SWZ (a more recent acquisition) is up 6.5%. I am moving more money to Canada. I have a real estate investment there which I just commmitted to.<\/p>\n

+ The ultra-hot stocks of recent months — like NFLX, TZOO, AAPL, AMZN, PCLN, UA, CMG, OPEN and SINA– are easing back. They will be replaced (it’s called sector rotation) by larger industrials like 3M, IBM, Honeywell, Coca Cola, etc.<\/p>\n

+ Highyielders like AGNC, NLY, IVR and ANH deserve a little of your money.<\/p>\n

+ Silver (SLV), gold (SGOL and GLD) and some of the miners like Goldcorp (GG) and GORO also deserve your money. As the U.S. dollar declines these will rise even more. Gold will be $2,000.<\/p>\n

The Royal wedding is this Friday.<\/strong><\/span> You can watch it in the wee hours of Friday morning. Here’s what I learned from a recent New Yorker article.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

+ They’ve been dating for eight years and are reportedly known to each other as Big Willey and Babykins.<\/p>\n

+ The groom’s grandmother (i.e. the Queen) has given the entire nation the day off.<\/p>\n

+ The groom’s father has invited the P.R. chief of Audi, which supplies the family with luxury cars at cutrate prices. Isn’t Audi german?<\/p>\n

+ Guests are asked to give money to any or all of 26 charities on a list. The couple may be hoping to avoid the fate of the Queen who as a bride received 500 cases of tinned pineapple from the people of Queensland (a state in Australia).<\/p>\n

+ The wedding will cost British taxpayers about 20 million pounds. That’s about $33 million dollars. Even my daughter’s wedding didn’t cost that much. I asked Susan this morning, “Why not?” She said it was “a failure of imagination.”<\/p>\n

+ The bride’s mother once worked as a “trolley dolly” — an airline stewardess.<\/p>\n

\nA: <\/strong>Your heart only good for so many beats, and that it… Don’t waste on exercise. Everything wear out eventually. Speeding up heart not make you live longer; it is like saying you extend life of car by driving faster. Want to live longer? Take nap.<\/p>\n

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?<\/strong>
\nA: No, not at all. Wine made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that mean they take water out of fruity bit so you get even more of goodness that way. Beer also made of grain. Bottom up!<\/p>\n

Q: How can I calculate my body\/fat ratio?
\nA: <\/strong>Well, if you have body and you have fat, your ratio one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio two to one, etc.<\/p>\n

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
\n<\/strong>A: Can’t think of single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No pain…good!<\/p>\n

Q: Aren’t fried foods bad for you?<\/strong>
\nA: YOU NOT LISTENING! Food are fried these day in vegetable oil. In fact, they permeated by it. How could getting more vegetable be bad for you?!?<\/p>\n

Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?<\/strong>
\nA: Definitely not! When you exercise muscle, it get bigger. You should only be doing sit-up if you want bigger stomach.<\/p>\n

Q: Is chocolate bad for me? <\/strong>
\nA: Are you crazy?!? HEL-LO-O!! Cocoa bean! Another vegetable! It best feel-good food around.<\/p>\n

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?<\/strong>
\nA: If swimming good for your figure, explain whale to me..<\/p>\n

Q: Is getting in shape important for my lifestyle? <\/strong>
\nA: Hey! ‘Round’ is shape!<\/p>\n

Well… I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets.<\/p>\n
