8:30 AM EST Friday, January 18, 2008: The tennis is superb. There are bright blue skies this morning. Last night I had dinner with business school classmates of 40-years ago. They're healthy and happy, and now pursuing interests they always wanted to. One is at Divinity School. One does weight lifting. One spends an hour and a half each day in the gym. Yes, there is a life outside searching for the perfect investment...

Money is pouring out of stockmarkets. The "flight to safety" is on in full force. As the money seeks a new home, short-term interest rates are plummeting. My advice: take what you can get. Don't go desperately hunting for higher yields. There's still too much danger out there.

That's it. I'm going back to watching and playing tennis. There's a great Roddick match presently on ESPN.

The lesson is don't type the wrong email address:
A Minneapolis couple decided to go to Florida to thaw out during a particularly icy winter. They planned to stay at the same hotel where they spent their honeymoon 20 years before. Because of their hectic schedules, it was difficult to coordinate their travel schedules. So, the husband left Minneapolis and flew to Florida on Friday. His wife was flying down the following day.

The husband checked into the hotel, and unlike years ago, there was a computer in his room. He decided to send an email to his wife. However, he accidentally left out one letter in her email address, and without noticing his error, sent the email to the wrong address.

Meanwhile...somewhere in Houston... a widow had just returned home from her husband's funeral.

The widow decided to check her email, expecting messages from relatives and friends. After reading the first message, she screamed and then fainted. The widow's son rushed into the room, found his mother on the floor, and then glanced up and saw the computer screen which read:

To: My Loving Wife
Subject: I have Arrived!

Dearest Love: I know you are surprised to hear from me. They have computers here now, and you are allowed to send email to your loved ones. I have just arrived and have been checked in. I see that everything has been prepared for your arrival tomorrow, and look forward to seeing you then Hope your journey is as uneventful as mine was.

PS .... Sure is Hot down here.

The Australian Tennis Open is on. And the matches are totally wonderful. These times are not always accurate. Best to just turn on your TV and scour the channels.

This column is about my personal search for the perfect investment. I don't give investment advice. For that you have to be registered with regulatory authorities, which I am not. I am a reporter and an investor. I make my daily column -- Monday through Friday -- freely available for three reasons: Writing is good for sorting things out in my brain. Second, the column is research for a book I'm writing called "In Search of the Perfect Investment." Third, I encourage my readers to send me their ideas, concerns and experiences. That way we can all learn together. My email address is . You can't click on my email address. You have to re-type it .
