Wiped out by good causes

May is charity event month in New York. Everyone holds a dinner where they auction off everything they can think off.

The auctions are always for a good cause, often for children. Most often for poor children.

I’m not being cynical, just exhausted.

Last night’s was for CMON, the Children’s Museum of Manhattan, a super great place. Take your young kids. They’ll love it. For more, click here.

The  blockbuster event of them all was  Robin Hood Foundation’s annual gala last Monday. It raised more than $60 million. That’s a huge amount for one event. Robin Hood is the hedge fund industry’s favorite charity. Since Robin Hood was founded in 1988, it has raised more than $1.45 billion!

Some of this year’s monies will be used for the new Robin Hood American Dream Fund, which will support nonprofits that help immigrants and their families.

In October this year, Robin Hood is holding its annual two-day investor conference. Hedgies present their best ideas.

I went to last year’s and loved it. Tickets are $7500, and worth every penny. You can make your money back with the recommendations. You’ll also will feel good. Ticket sales  go 100% to charities. Robin Hood is unique in that the board picks up all Robin Hood’s operating costs. Zero administrative costs is rare among charities.

This year’s tickets are now on sale. I’ll see you there.  Click here.

Latest stupid golf joke
After a long, hot day on the golf course, my buddies and I stopped in at Hooter’s for some Hot Wings.

One of my friends asked me which waitress I would like to be stuck in an elevator with.

I told them I’m old, tired, and I pee a lot. I’d like to be stuck in the elevator with  the lady who knows how to fix elevators.

Harry Newton who is grateful that the U.S., Great Britain, France and Israel have offered to help find those missing Nigerian girls held by the nutcase Islamist extremists, Boko Haram. Newton wonders where are Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and other Muslim countries? Not one offer of help. Not one word of condemnation. Amazing!

It hasn’t been good in the markets recently. It must be The New Normal. Here’s a low-cost solution:
