Chinese fortune cookie thoughts for the day (all based on recent events):

If it’s not broke, don’t fix it.

Good words to heed BEFORE you upgrade to a “better” computer, camera, car, etc.

Do it now.

Now. Now. Now. Do it now. You’ll get it done. And you’ll find out it was easier to do than you thought.

Don’t let your client/customer linger.

The instant he/she agrees, get the deal done. Get the paperwork signed, sealed and delivered.

Delay, and your client will have second, third and fourth thoughts.

And your relationship will fall apart.

Your biggest mistake is talking too much.

When the deal is done, shut up. Stop emailing. Stop phoning. Stop talking.

Bring out the paperwork and get the signature.

Don’t negotiate by email.

Email is for ONLY two things: Agreeing to something and complimenting someone. “You did great. Thanks.”

It’s not for complaining or negotiating.

There’s always a reason.

It mightn’t make sense to you. But to them, it’s brilliant logic.

It’s his money.

He can do what the hell he likes with it.

It’s his universe. If he says you didn’t call, trust him.

It’s his money and life. He’ll do what the hell he wants with it — no matter how stupid you think he is.

Don’t agonize. Don’t suffer.

Change your present job to fit your your likes.

Or change your job.

But stop bitching to yourself, or me. Life is too short. Bitching equals stress. And stress hurts your health.

Napping is good.

You can always find time to nap. If you can’t, you’re in the wrong job.

Obsession is even better.

Being obsessive gets things done. Your friends think you’re nuts. But they’re not successful. And you are — because you make it happen.

The Sunday service

A Baptist pastor was presenting a children’s sermon. During the sermon, he asked the children if they knew what the resurrection was. Now, asking questions during children’s sermons is crucial, but at the same time, asking children questions in front of a congregation can also be very dangerous. Having asked the children if they knew the meaning of the resurrection, a little boy raised his hand.

The pastor called on him and the little boy said, “I know that if you have a resurrection that lasts more than four hours you are supposed to call the doctor.”

It took over ten minutes for the congregation to settle down enough from their laughter for the worship service to be continued.

The Jewish elbow

A Jewish grandmother is giving directions to her grown grandson who is coming to visit with his wife.

“You come to the front door of the apartment. I am in apartment 301 . There is a big panel at the front door.

With your elbow , push button 301. I will buzz you in. Come inside, the elevator is on the right. Get in, and with your elbow push 3. When you get out, I’m on the left. With your elbow , hit my doorbell.””Grandma, that sounds easy, but, why am I hitting all these buttons with my elbow?

“What … You coming empty handed?”

Harry Newton, who feels great this morning.

Not sure of the present status, but Berkshire Hathaway was in a law suite with the IRS over back taxes owed. Also, Berkshire Hathaway does not pay a dividend. This can be both good and bad.

And Harry, thank you for the info on the Finviz stock screener…by far the best ever.

Harry, I am serious about BRK being the single best, safest, most conservative, least corrupt, most diversified, richest in cash ($48 billion++++ to play with), least bureaucratic investment, not just the past decade, but the past four decades. Your chart shows 2-3 years when almost everything got hammered, and yet over that 10 year duration it still performed gorgeously.
