Resurgent Intel. Problems for Qualcomm. Intel dumped all its businesses — except chips which it’s best at.Here’s two pieces on Seeking Alpha. They talk of a resurgent Intel and much heightened coompetition for QCOM. Of all the stocks I still own, QCOM is dong among the worst. I bought in because of being impressed with their new stuff at Consumer Electronics Show. But their new sstuff hasn’t delivered exemplary earnings and Intel and Broadcom are now targeting the cellphone LTE marketplace, which QCOM dominates. Here are the two articles. For Intel, click here. For Qualcomm, click here. Here are their one-year charts:
Intel looks like a much better deal.

Harry Newton who is engrossed watching the Nadal/Djokovic semi-final match this morning. The lesson us tennis hackers learn from this is that the ball always comes back. And we’d better be ready to play it. I will stand there and admire my brilliance while the ball comes back and I lose the point. There are lessons her for your investing life. It’s not over until the fat lady sings. Meantime managing requires constant vigilance and speed of action. We live in a world where too much money is chasing too few opportunities. And the pressure is on to achieve instant results. Hence the volatility we’ve seen, for example, in recent days (look at yesterday):
Talk about volatility. Look at this miserable one-month chart of the Australian dollar. You just don’t expect “stable” currencies to crater this quickly:

If you think our government isn’t listening in on all our voice and email conversations, you’re wrong. Be careful what you say. No joking about serious stuff. Remember those signs at the airports about not making jokes as you pass through Security. Heed them in your every day life. I am not joking.
The U.S. did well on jobs in May, the latest month. Hopefully, markets will up today.
But who cares? The Tennis is more fun, and more predictable.
The French Open Tennis finals are this weekend. They should be great.
