It’s up. You’re not in. Should you buy high, and sell low when the inevitable correction comes? Or is it going higher and you should definitely be in, or more in.
This is a “faith” thing. Emotion is ruling this market, as it rules all markets.
The good news is that there aren’t any major crises on the horizon — like the dot.coms, or the sub-primes, or the banking disasters…. There’s plenty of money not is (aka on the sidelines). And the fed is staying with us. Printing money, buying bonds and pumping investor confidence.
The bad news is there aren’t many cheap stocks left.
Friends are buying GPT, whose management they rave about and which has lagged this runup and will soon pay a dividend.
My biggest gainers have been V, WEN, ATK, HON, WFM, AF, COST, HTSG, GILD, HD, VZ, BRKA, AMZN and GOOG. The lowest P/E in this bunch is HTSG’s 14.2. The rest are all in nose-bleed territory.
Friends are shorting Apple. Personally I think the best shorts are BBY and BBRY.
I’m cogitating I have cash, as a result of bonds being called. But this market is not easy.
Ironically, some real estate deals have recently popped.

Texas Weighs Ban on Women
AUSTIN (The Borowitz Report)-Republican lawmakers in the Texas State Senate are proposing a precedent-setting new bill that would make it illegal for women to live in the state.
Senator Harland Dorrinson, one of the many pro-life lawmakers backing the woman ban, crafted his bill after witnessing Senator Wendy Davis filibuster an anti-abortion bill last month.
“That was our moment to say, `Enough is enough,’ ” he said. “This comes down to a choice between life and women, and we choose life.”
Senator Dorrinson said his bill would call for a twenty-foot woman-proof fence to be constructed along the borders of the state.
“Women are great at talking, but not at climbing,” he observed.
But another G.O.P. state senator, Cal Jamson, believes that the total ban on women goes “too far” and is proposing a less draconian bill that would allow some women to remain in the state as guest workers.
“Texas needs women to cook, clean, and cheerlead,” he said. “If they show that they can do those things and stay out of politics, there could be a pathway to citizenship.”

Moishe had just had a medical check up. “I hate to be the one to break it to you,” said the doctor, “but you’ve only got about 6 months to live.”
“Oh my God” gasped Moishe, turning white.
A few minutes later, after the news had sunk in, Moishe said, “Doctor, you’ve known me a long time. Do you have any suggestions as to how I could make the most of my remaining months?”
“Have you ever married?” asked the doctor.
Moishe replied that he had been a bachelor his whole life.
“You might think about taking a wife,” said the doctor, “after all, you’ll need someone to look after you during the final illness.”
“That’s a good point,” said Moishe, “and with only 6 months to live I better make the most of my remaining time.”
“May I make one more suggestion?” asked the doctor, “marry a Jewish girl.”
“A Jewish girl? Why?” asked Moishe.
“It’ll seem longer.”

If your friends are shorting Apple you need new friends. I’m certainly not real high on Apple, but it’s already dropped so much that it’s a foolish, ignorant move to short it now. Time to short was months ago. It seems like your friends are always a little late to the party. The best investors are forward looking, not backward.
Cell Phone Madness…it took me 3 weeks battling between two Canadian Bell telephone companies to finally get a new Canadian cell phone set-up, with my old land line telephone number ported to it. Only 2 out of at least 20 people I talked with, actually knew what they were talking about. (I congratulated both of them). In the process I discovered my cheapo Samsung Model SGH-C414M phone has a SIM card lock and un-lock feature built-in. PC Mobile (owned by Bell) claimed they “only sell cheap phones that cannot be unlocked”…their words! I unlocked it myself and switched carriers. $100.00 per year including calls at 10 cents per minute.
