This morning, my inbox filled with ecstasy. Sample comments:
And on CNBC this morning, “It was a referendum. It was a big one.” — Warren Buffett.
Can your business use this new tax break? From a Gretchen Morgenson, NY Times column:
On November 6, President Obama signed the Worker, Homeownership and Business Assistance Act of 2009 into law, extending unemployment benefits by 20 weeks and renewing the first-time homebuyer tax credit until next April.
But tucked inside the law was another prize: a tax break that lets big companies offset losses incurred in 2008 and 2009 against profits booked as far back as 2004. The tax cuts will generate corporate refunds or relief worth about $33 billion, according to an administration estimate.
Before the bill became law, the so-called look-back on losses was limited to small businesses and could be used to counterbalance just two years of profits. Now the profit offset goes back five years, and the law allows big companies to take advantage of it, too. The only companies that can’t participate are Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and any institution that took money under the Troubled Asset Relief Program.
Harry, here are some of the web sites I review for data, Ideas, Inspiration, boredom. Hope they provide food for thought. Regards Clay

AT&T’s cell service sucks. It’s awful on the east coast, in New York and Washington, etc. But it may be brilliant elsewhere. Its data service is better than its voice service. Some AT&T customers carry an iPhone for the data and a cheap Verizon cell phone for the voice service. Your choice. Be warned.
Apple continues to do well. From Business Insider, “After the recession knocked out the Mac’s growth story, it’s back on the rise, thanks to the awesome 27-inch iMacs and more affordable MacBook Pro. Mac retail sales in the U.S., tracked by NPD Group, are up around 26% year-over-year for the December quarter, according to analysis by Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster.”
Next week, Apple will introduce its tablet — its version of the Kindle, but in color. It will fly off the shelves. I want one.
Warren Buffett’s brilliant interview this morning on CNBC.
I like listening to Warren Buffett. He was brilliant on risk, timing and uncertainty. I’m guessing a video of his interview will be on CNBC’s web site later today.
What is Celibacy?
Celibacy can be a choice in life, or a condition imposed by circumstances.
While attending a Marriage Weekend, Walter and his wife, Ann, listened to the instructor declare, ‘It is essential that husbands and wives know the things that are important to each other.”
He then addressed the men, ‘Can you name and describe your wife’s favorite Flower?’
Walter leaned over, touched Ann’s arm gently, and whispered, “Gold Medal-All-Purpose, isn’t it?’
And thus began Walter’s life of celibacy……….
