Giving back today. Not exciting. But the weather is cooling off for the weekend.

Yuchy tech day. Especially for SQ, NEWR, and NFLX.
As my broker/philosopher, Todd Kingsley, said this morning, “You got to give a little back occasionally. Today we’re doing that.
In recent months, my portfolio exploded in size (number of stocks). Not good strategy. My attention span couldn’t keep up. I’ve now axed the following from my recommended portfolio:  FB, IQ, Shack Shake (SHAK), SHOP, Tencent (TCEHY) and Tesla (TSLA). See the updated list on the right column n the web site.
Apart from my miserable attention span — and not being able to keep up to date with Facebook and Tesla’s latest woes — the others had reached double digit losses.
My friend Ed is lamenting that the losses haven’t been big enough. He likes to put in orders when his favorite stocks have dropped to, or below their 50-day moving averages.
Ed loves CAT, which along with Berkshire Hathaway, is actually up today.
The Year of Overseas Contagion (Continued)
I updated yesterday’s list. I’m not sure if there’s a common theme — except mismanagement. Investing overseas is getting riskier and riskier.

The Turkish Lira. The Russian Ruble. The Argentine Peso. The South African Rand.  The Indonesian Rupiah. The Indian Rupee. They’re all collapsing.

 Having trouble sleeping?

Bose just announced these pricey aids. I’m guessing they work, though I haven’t tried them. Click here. I do use Bose noise-cancelling corded earbuds on planes and they work. They’re called QuietComfort. You can sleep with them by simply unplugging your sound source. You’ll still get the noise cancelling. Click here.

Don’t do stupid

+ Bicycling riding on busy streets is not a great idea. The curbs are strewn with glass. In their hurry, the drivers will run you off the road.

+ Don’t forget to put a fire suppression system in your country’s biggest and best museum:

Harry Newton, who watched last night’s incredible many, many hours tennis match between Nadal and Thiem. Later this afternoon I’m going off to play tennis myself. This weekend — the weekend of the U.S. Tennis Open finals — will be mercifully cooler.

Tech hearings on the hill? Trump’s not speaking to Woodward? Being mean and nasty to our strongest ally Canada?

As a famous sage once said, “Washington is eight square miles surrounded by reality.

Harry, the NY Times op-ed about Trump is bogus. Made up. Fake. Myself and other Trump supporters, especially evangelicals, realize it’s a fake. This smear campaign makes us love Donald even more. Even if he takes us to nuclear war we still support him. All he has to do to get my vote (again) is keep appointing judges that will stop the murdering of babies by abortion.

    • harrynewton says:

You would risk a nuclear war?

      • J. Browser says:

To prevent abortion I sure would. How familiar are you with the late-term abortions now taking place that were approved by the Clintons? Also, what about the Democratic congressman’s sex trafficking ring?

        • harrynewton says:

You would risk a nuclear war with millions of victims? Which sex trafficking ring? Which congressman?

          • J. Browser says:

YES. Evangelicals welcome nuclear war to punish sinners. The congressman has yet to be named but he’s a liberal from a large state – it was on Facebook. Democratic Party-sponsored sex trafficking rings are everywhere. You live in New York. Go down to Times Square and walk toward Central Park and several liberals will solicit you for their sex trafficking rings. I read this on Facebook too.

can you forward to me the things on Facebook which you’re reading? please. I’ve lived in New York City for 49 years. I’ve walked from Times Square toward Central Park many many times. No one has ever solicited me for their sex trafficking rings.

I’ll try to find the items on Facebook and Twitter. My friend from Kansas City visited New York recently and as he walked from Times Sq. to Central Park he was solicited for sex trafficking twice, was sold a fake Rolex and had a bum spit on him. What a town!

Speaking of Broccoli for Rosie: Make sure not to give her carrots and I think Broccoli as well as they cause bladder stones. Found out the hard way and not easy to treat.
