Capital preservation seems like an increasingly good idea.

Jeffrey Gundlach said today our goal for 2019 as investors should be capital preservation.

He said we’re in a long-term bear market.

Here’s a clip from CNBC’s interview with him:

There are several stories on CNBC.com about the interview. Here’s one.

Three days ago, CNBC ran a story headlined:

The last time the S&P did this, stocks soared nearly 20 percent in the next 12 months

The story is here.

Investing today is figuring your tolerance for pain. Mine is not very high. I have been progressively selling.

Wednesday is The Big Event.

If the Fed doesn’t raise interest rates, the market will turn on a dime and jump a thousand points.

We won’t be so lucky. The Fed will raise rates.

But it may say some soothing words about not raising them in 2019. That should help.

Meantime, it’s hard to find an area of the economy doing well — think housing, autos, oil, agriculture, construction, factories, etc. There’s the mess in Europe, the U.K. and the slowing in China. And our Trade Wars. Hovering over it all are the gigantic borrowings which big business took on in the last few years — while optimism ran high and interest rates ran low.

This is shaping up to be the worst December in the stockmarket since the Great Depression in 1931.

Our preferred apartment buyer just dropped her “firm” bid. Her accountant cited her poor stock portfolio performance.

Talcum powder, JNJ, asbestos and ovarian cancer

+ Women should immediately stop using talcum powder anywhere near their private parts.

+ In its natural form, some talc contains asbestos, a substance known to cause cancers.

+ Johnson and Johnson stock has cratered since it was revealed the company knew about the asbestos.

+ Last night JNJ’s CEO went on Cramer to clear up the confusion. He didn’t. There are words here.  Send me an email if you want a transcript.

The family are coming for Christmas

Hence the need for a haircut. Here’s my new barber, Salva, photographing his artistry.

He’s shooting into a mirror. So, how can we read the words?

Simple. Here’s the bib photographed from the front:

Brilliant marketing.

Salva does good haircuts and has a wonderful web site. Maybe he’ll use me as a model? Click here.
