Monday, I was bullish. The market went down.
Tuesday, I was bearish. The market boomed.
This morning I’m pretending to be ultra-bearish. Pray I’m wrong.
Meantime, this morning I’m watching Nadal battle Federer in Madrid. Much more interesting than watching endless “pundits” interpret yesterday’s election.
Worst investment of the election: Meg Whitman blew $150 million or so of her own money trying to become governor of California. News of her illegal undocumented untaxed Mexican maid did her in. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.
Fidelity’s Active Trade Pro is neat software. To me it’s the most full-featured of the online software out there. Fidelity has two platforms; Its simple one and its Active Trader Pro. You can actually use both. You can jump back and forth between them if you find Active Trade Pro daunting (which it can be). I like the real-time portfolio updates. I like the charting options. Son Michael didn’t like the blue charting option:

I like Patriot. It’s bouncing back ever since it has become evident that Obama likes coal, not natural gas or nuclear. Go figure.
My friend’s great option trade: He emails me: “Bought VECO for $40.07. STO NOV 40 CALL for $2.05. Make 4.9% if called / 4.9% if not called. Not bad for 19 days!”
He found VECO by checking with Compound Stock Earnings and VectorVest. He also follows a guru who says when it breaks above its 28 moving average, buy. He also likes VECO because it makes blue diodes — which are “the next hot area.”
Speaking enthusiastically for Dragon. My friend Fred Tarter speaks faster than he types. He raves about the latest Dragon. He says the speech-to-text software requires little training, and can produce copy that’s 99% accurate, requiring Marilyn Hill, his wonderful assistant, to make few changes to his work. Getting “arthritis?” Everyone of my friends (and my wife) is complaining of their “new arthritis.” Before you despair of your new infirmities, know two things:
1. The weather has become colder. Your body doesn’t like that, but will recover when it figures out the season’s change.
2. You could be cramping. We get that in tennis. And we solve it by drinking water. Lots of water. Not wine. Not coffee. No soda. WATER.

Instead, they sometimes take the apples from the ground that aren’t as good, but are easy. The apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality, they’re amazing. They just have to wait for the right man to come along, the one who is brave enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree.

Nadal just won the Madrid ATP final. Federer made too many unenforced errors. Nadal’s top-spin is lethal. I wish I could make his shot.
Harry – While on the whole, the Active Trader Pro has a lot to be liked, especially for free, the charting has a lot of flaws. Draw 2 support lines. Then you decide to erase the first one – you cant. You have to erase the second, then the first, then redraw the second. Stupid.
Also, The lines are inaccurate – you can't fix the ends to certain exact price points to see if a price truly breaches the support line. Lines can at best be approximate. There are a lot of other complaints. They are missing many analysis tools, and adding and removing tools is cumbersome. The charting in WealthLab is much more refined, and has many more tools. It too has problems. But again, it is free (if you trade enough).
Not to nitpick, Active Trader Pro is not really an online program – it installs on your computer, much like Wealthlab, or third party software Metastock (which you pay for). For online programs, look at StockCharts.com.

Tennis is tweaking. What works for Joe doesn't work for Harry. You try different rackets, different shoes, different strings, different tensons, different strokes. It's endless, but fun. The key is not to believe what anyone tells you until you've checked it out for yourself.
Meg Whitman is not that smart. She ran Ebay, but a monkey could of run that company and made it into a success. Everyone sings about how great she is, but she bought skype by overpaying for it. Her idea was for people to speak to someone before they bid or buy an item. The stupidest idea i have ever heard of, they could of easily put that into there site without spending 4-6 billion. They recently sold skype for i believe 2 billion. The new CEO is taking ebay back to its roots and now the company is doing well. I just feel like Ebay was a company that could succeed on its own, and Meg Whitman has been given to much credit.
