I panic. That’s me. And life’s two critical lessons.

Someone in Burkina Faso wants to send my friend $28 million.

Someone wants me to send $180,760 to their bank in Hong Kong.

The anti-hacking software company Norton wants me to pay them  money to protect me from:

I wasted all morning freaking out.

Four hours later, no one has stolen my money and won’t.

Here’s what little I learned:

+ Stop freaking.

+ Change key passwords — especially my bank, JPMorgan Chase and my online broker, Fidelity.

+ Don’t do really stupid. Don’t open attachments to emails. If they’re from your friends, email your friends first to find out if the attachment is legit. Most often it’s not.

Socialism definition

If the government owns the means of production (factories), distribution of goods (retailers) and all the land, then it’s socialism.

If the government gives you money because you’re sick, old or poor, it’s social welfare. Not socialism.

Wimbledon Tennis began today

It’s on ESPN until late afternoons when it’s on The Tennis Channel.

Boy, can I relate to this

Revenge porn

An app for making realistic fake nudes of any woman with just a few clicks has been shut down. The team behind DeepNude announced on  Twitter they were shutting down the app for good, saying “the world is not yet ready for DeepNude.”

It’s called revenge porn.

As I mull today, I realize there are only two lessons in life:

+ You are your own worst enemy. No one can shoot you in the foot as effectively as you can.

+ To succeed, to live, to survive, you need to be obsessively curious, to study, to ask questions and not to trust experts (especially doctors).

American Cori Gauff just became the youngest woman to win a Wimbledon match since 1991. She’s 15. She defeated Venus Williams, who’s 39. Makes you feel good for the kids of today. The world is in good hands.

Hey Harry, I know you mean good but your definition of Socialism is not accurate: although it is true in socialist system there is more government intervention, socialist regimes do have private enterprise and free market. Below is wikipedia definition.
“Socialism is a range of economic and social systems characterised by social ownership of the means of production and workers’ self-management,[10] as well as the political theories and movements associated with them. Social ownership can be public, collective or cooperative ownership, or citizen ownership of equity. There are many varieties of socialism and there is no single definition encapsulating all of them, with social ownership being the common element shared by its various forms”

I read Wikipedia’s definition before I wrote mine. I also checked many other definitions. I’m not writing a long economic paper. I’m writing a definition for the presidential election — so people will understand what word socialism means in the context of this election. I stand my my concise definition.

Harry I do understand your effort but I suspect any of the candidates goes to the extent you defined. I see the most they talk about is on health care and sometimes education. But it is a good discussion to have.

Sorry you dropped your granddaughter from the picture, however, please, please drop the tie! Then you will have a picture worthy of posting…the tie is even worse than the flower.
