Big turnaround today. Harry’s Six Rules To Live (happily) By

Heh, I was way down this morning. And I thought, “This is the big one. The beginning of The Big Step Down.”

Then it bounced back.

I don’t know why. I was watching tennis and doing some Honey-Dos.  But I’ll take it.

My friend Fred emailed me:

You have every reason to be “chirping”, and even you know that this mania is not sustainable.

This is a humbling game—at least shake hands with the cashier on some and hope you’re wrong.

Rather than shaking hands with the cashier, I bought a little more Apple and opened a small position in XIACY, the Chinese company, Xiaomi, that, arguably, makes the best cheap cellphones and is gaining traction in the U.S. Check them out on Amazon. Need more work there, however. A nice reader recommended them.

Harry’s Six Rules To live by

+ Check. Check. Check. I bought a bigger country street-side mailbox from a company called Gibraltar. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb. The box didn’t have a single screw or any hardware to mount the thing. Cheap bast*rds.

+ The second time will be easiest. Next time I buy a mailbox, I’ll buy the mounting hardware. But not buy Gibraltar.

+ If it works, don’t mess with it. Nothing is perfect, least of all my Toto toilet seat, which I still can’t remove. I should never have messed with it. Now it’s loose and wobbles at precisely the wrong time.

+ Before you do anything, check with YouTube. They got videos on how to do anything and everything. Watch them twice.

+ You don’t need it. I don’t need a new toilet seat or a new mailbox. I have a whole bunch of things I’ve bought from Amazon which I still haven’t installed. Next time I leave it in my cart, and pretend I bought it. That will make me happy, without the aggravation of having the thing clutter up my desk.

+ What I really need is no stress. How can it be? I’m writing about big, black, badly-designed $40 mailboxes and putting myself into a tiss. More fun to play Mark tennis. We played our 174th game this morning.

Credit Cards

There are two types of credit cards:

+ Ones that give you useless airline miles.

+ Ones that give you cash back.

Now is the time to check that your auto-renews and auto-pays are not being put on the useless airline miles credit card.

To dream of far away places

CondeNast has a piece “51 Things in Europe that Every Traveler Needs to Experience.”

Skip the travel, the airports and the aluminum tubes (airplanes). Look at the pictures. Here’s one:

Swim in Slovenia’s Lake Bled
Tucked into the very north-west corner of Slovenia, Lake Bled is a fairytale come to life. Surrounded by the blue rolling mountains of the Julian Alps, the crystal clear water is punctuated only by the tiny central island, topped with its landmark medieval castle. Though many will hop on the traditional pletna boats, the best thing is to dive in: The water is Blue Flag level pristine, warm in the summer, and even in high season, it feels secluded.

Michael and I visited Slovenia and Lake Bled on a Backroads bike trip in 2019. We swum it also. You can’t swim to the island, it’s too far.

Check out the CondeNast travel piece here.

Amazing turnaround today.

Got any hot stocks I don’t have? All ideas welcomed and researched.

Hairy, you bought Apple yesterday? No wonder it tanked 8 percent today!

“+ Check. Check. Check. I bought a bigger country street-side mailbox from a company called Gibraltar. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb. The box didn’t have a single screw or any hardware to mount the thing. Cheap bast*rds”. Could it have been a quality control problem

Let’s keep talking about SNOW. It will be my first IPO. A 10-bagger?

    Harry,
Any thoughts on the ETF, EMQQ (Emerging Markets Internet & Ecommerce Index; http://www.emqqindex.com) ?

Hot stocks = CHNG, NUAN, SS&C, SOXX, ARMK (hold) and possibly FIS..debating buying that one. My advisor likes CVS and GSK for Covid plays but I don’t agree.
