Changes to our portfolio and why. A 29-year old worth $8 billion. Dehydration is the worst. It can happen to any of us.

Last week was magnificent. Our tech stocks have done, on balance, very well — for reasons I somewhat understand. Most have nice growth and oodles of buzz. Take some money home. Buy yourself a new Tesla.

I bought some more DOCS, whose real name is Doximity.

It describes itself as:

The professional medical network for physicians
Doximity is the largest community of healthcare professionals in the country – with over 80% of U.S. doctors and 50% of all NPs and physician assistants as verified members.

In short, Facebook for doctors. Nice growth. Great idea.

I dumped Roblox this morning. Its growth is slowing and its stock dropping. Lost money on RBLX, despite the buzz.

Buzz is key.

I bought some SKX — Skechers shoes. I’m an idiot. I own more Skechers shoes than any other brand… And I didn’t listen to my own purchases. Dumb.

I ought some ALGN. I figure more people will get perfect teeth now more of them have been vaccinated and can get to the dentist.

I was right about China tech stocks. No reason to own them. They just keep falling. Look at the falls since end-February when the word got out that China was toxic.

I bet President Xi has never run a business in his life. He is clearly power hungry and is jealous of all the adulation China has for its tech entrepreneurs. Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Sad for China. Sadder for Hong Kong. The New York Times had a piece “China’s Tech Crackdown is Coming for Us.” click here.

Dehydration is the worst

A friend spent two days in hospital  because he had vertigo and was throwing up.

He hadn’t been drinking enough water and was dehydrated. As you get older you need to drink more and more.

The goal: 64 ounces a day. Sipping, not gulping.

Hospital stays are boring .

Stay out. Drink. Sip.

Cramps are an early sign of dehyrdration.

Ordering appliances?

Like dishwashers, washing machines, dryers, etc.

Put your orders in six to eight in advance of when you might need them.

My most intelligent friends are actually placing their orders a year in advance.

Everything is in short-supply, not just semi-conductor chips. And laptops. Look what Lenovo’s site shows:

Wonder why people don’t take vaccines?

Here’s Carl Sagan in 1996:

“I have a foreboding of an America in my children’s or grandchildren’s time — when the United States is a service and information economy; when nearly all the manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries; when awesome technological powers are in the hands of a very few, and no one representing the public interest can even grasp the issues; when the people have lost the ability to set their own agendas or knowledgeably question those in authority; when, clutching our crystals and nervously consulting our horoscopes, our critical faculties in decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good and what’s true, we slide, almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness…”

Rodney “I don’t get no respect” was America’s greatest comedian.

Few of us remember how good he really was. And never a four letter word. Here’s a beautiful clip of him on the Johnny Carson Show.

More on bitcoin

Bitcoin is up 13% today. Good. Many of my friends own it. Their justification? “It’s a gamble.” A small part of their portfolio.

To my tiny brain, Bitcoin has no substance, except buzz. And it’s getting a lot of buzz. The number of people who own crypto is beyond amazement. The growth is beyond even that.

There are two ways  to play this: own the stuff, or own the picks and shovels companies, of which Coinbase is one overpriced one.

I went to several of the crypto exchanges web sites over the weekend. If complexity is your pleasure, you got it in spades on these sites.

Cyrpto appeals to youngens. “Like a motorcycle, crypto keeps you young, where young means moody, desperate and on the cusp of danger.”

Crypto is volatile — because it’s not regulated and leverage can be out of this world — as high as 125 times. Every pick and shovel crypto company takes hefty commissions all along the line.

This man,

You can read more about him and other cyrptos nomads in a long fascinating New York New Times article here.

Our Robins have hatched and are growing.

Mummy Robin get s really upst when I stick a camera into her nest. It’s a pleasure to watch them grow from their little blue eggs to this. They’ll be gone in a few days. Play the video. It’s cute.

See you tomorrow. — Harry Newton
