The whole world is festering with unhappy souls. Here’s what motivated Ali Khamenei. Should I invest in drone makers?

In 1959 The Kingston Trio sang The Merry Minuet

Their happy  lyrics:

They’re rioting in AfricaThey’re starving in SpainThere’s hurricanes in FloridaAnd Texas needs rain

The whole world is festeringWith unhappy soulsThe French hate the GermansThe Germans hate the PolesItalians hate YugoslavsSouth Africans hate the DutchAnd I don’t like anybody very much

But we shall be thankful and tranquil and proudFor man’s been endowed with a mushroom-shaped cloudAnd we know for certain that some lovely daySomeone will set the spark offAnd we will all be blown away

They’re rioting in AfricaThere’s strife in IranWhat nature doesn’t do to usWill be done by our fellow man

On Saturday the New York Times published this brilliant guest essay:

Drone makers hover

I asked Perplexity which public companies make drones?

I asked Fidelity how had they done in the past year: The best performer was ONDS, a money-losing but fast-growing maker:

Here are the others over the same one year.

AVAV is the granddaddy of them all. My favorites are KTOS and AVAV. But I don’t own any.  They’re in my ‘too hard” basket.

I suspect you’re more likely to get more bang for your buck with KTOS. (I had to write that awful pun.)

My brilliant friend Doug has done well with two overseas defense stocks ESLT (the Israeli ELBIT which is a big supplier to the Israeli military) and MHVIY (Mitsubishi Heavy Industries).

MSNOW reported Sunday evening hat “Millions flowed into prediction markets” before the first Iran strikes.

Over $500 million. Like 71 minutes before the bombs started falling.
