Somewhere there’s sanity.
The market is exploding. The war is imploding. The new $6 billion bridge is shuttered. And then there’s the algae.
The algae. Blue reflects heat, making it hotter. Perfect for algae.
Intel is going to make chips for Apple. But Apple hasn’t said it wants them. And Intel can’t make them. But Trump and his Administration have Intel stock (up 10.6% today) , like he has stock in the company that ran the cage fight.
Our local Chatham, NY coffee shop, Fiesta, is booming. Their California Tacos are out of this world.
I don’t have a library or a golden arch. But Fiesta has made me famous by enshrining “Harry’s Grilled Cheese with tomato and avocados sandwich” on their Square terminal. One button push. It’s AI incarnate. Small help to my ego. Delicious sandwich.
Doing stupid is suddenly the rage, as people text their friends and crash head-on into fellow travelers. Or fall backwards. Falling down stairs forwards is now passé.
All this can put you in a giant funk. Better is to marvel at the petty grift. It took only a miserable $1 million to get Trump to close the brand new competing bridge for reasons that give new meaning to “If I only had the imagination.” See below for more.
I’m not laughing all the way to the bank. Except on occasional days — like today.
Today celebrated the end of the war that didn’t end. Tomorrow we’ll be throwing all my stratospheric stocks out with the bathwater. Tonight I’ll be happy.
SpaceX is up and down like a whore’s drawers. That’s an Australian expression. By all sane metrics, it’s vastly overpriced. I was instructed to hold my miserable 100 share allocation for my great-great-grandchildren, when they will be happily living on Mars — newly cleaned up – thank you, Elon — of homeless aliens. (Humans?)

In every morass there is a shiny star. Or something like that. Behold: An entrepreneurial opportunity:

Thank you Perplexity for your help in creating this. Send me $5 and I’ll send you a bottle. Maybe.
The bridge
Here’s Gemini’s take on it:
President Donald Trump is blocking the opening of the newly completed Gordie Howe International Bridge between Detroit, Michigan, and Windsor, Ontario. Although Canada fully funded the $6.4 billion CAD project, Trump intervened to delay a scheduled ribbon-cutting ceremony, demanding a U.S. ownership stake and trade concessions on alcohol and dairy before allowing it to open.
The delay of the bridge has been widely described by outlets as a “Bridgegate” controversy. This is due to reports that a Michigan billionaire, Matthew Moroun—whose family owns the privately run Ambassador Bridge and has long lobbied against the new public crossing to protect their near-monopoly—donated heavily to a Trump-aligned super PAC and held private meetings with administration officials right before Trump changed his stance on the project.
Here’s the new, unopened bridge, which Canada paid for, but Trump is keeping closed. This is one gorgeous bridge.

The opening of the bridge remains “paused” (that’s the fashionable word) while the U.S. and Canada attempt to iron out political disagreements and trade negotiations.
I don’t make this stuff up.
See tomorrow. —Harry Newton
