Researched all yesterday. Found nothing exciting.
AGNC went ex-dividend of $1.25 on Monday and dropped, but not $1.25, then came back a little.
Volkswagen reported net profits last year of almost three times those of General Motors, the biggest carmaker. But then VW isn’t pinning its future on a car as insane as the Chevy Volt electric monster, which costs at least twice to run as a normal gas-powered car. Nobody is buying the Volt and GM is shuttering its plant for several weeks while demand catches up. If it ever does. Yup, closing plants short-term makes sense to me. GM is another short at today’s prices.
Favorite latest New Yorker cartoons. God, I love their cartoons.
Harry Newton who marvels at the entrepreneurial opportunities opening up as a result of two accelerating trends — the explosion of broadband (both wired and wireless) and the success of the iPad/iPhone platform. You, your children and I can now create useful popular software, upload it to the AppStore and have Apple handle all our distribution and billing. We do the fun part. Apple does the heavy lifting. There are thousands who earn more from their Apple apps than from their regular day jobs. And there are thousands who’ve quit their day jobs because it’s more fun, and more rewarding working for yourself (and for Apple). I wish Steve were alive to see how he improved so many peoples’ lives.
It’s amazing how many guys in their fifties are on the tennis courts, retired from their day jobs. They started a business, worked at it for 20 to 30 years, then sold it. They took the money, bought a few rental residential apartment buildings, snuck some cash away and now spend their days playing golf and tennis (and running errands for their wives). They all look fit, healthy and bronzed. The Coachella Valley where I’m staying was overbuilt in the mid 2000s, but it’s coming back — funnily, with oodles of Canadians. They see southern California as their Miami, an escape from snow, rain and cold. It’s 75 and sunny here. And the navel oranges are really delicious. What more could you want?

Hi Harry
What do you think about Property Prices in Asia and Australia.? They are due for a retreat. My broker is shorting a lot of stocks which have exposure to Australian, Singapore and Hong Kong property stocks and services
I've heard stories about high property prices in Asia and in Australia for a while. I suspect that a pullback might make some sense. Why don't you ask your broker for the names of the stocks he's shorting?
“And the navel oranges are really delicious. What more could you want?”
Valencia oranges from Florida.
Wait a minute… Canadians are more funny than displaced Australians? Both are escaping snow, rain and cold…
That fish / duck thing … I don't get it
