Staying optimistic.

Sanity and a peaceful life is not what today’s stockmarkets are about. One day Crimea. The next day Yellen wants to raise interest rates. One day, pain. The next day, pleasure. Today’s stockmarkets are not for the feint of heart.

Be wary of being caught by too tight stops. I’m tempted to raise many of my stops to 12%. I can’t see an imminent big crash. I remain optimistic, even after yesterday.

My friend picks up a few shekels by selling puts when the market rises and selling call options when it falls. Often he buys them back a day or two later, picking up a little profit along the way. The price of options varies dramatically from one volatile day to the next.

ive found selling puts/calls works pretty well when you have directional conviction on the underlying. if i own FB and know that id add more to my position at 66, i’ll sell puts there. likewise if i know id sell my MSFT at 40, i’ll sell calls there. many corporate treasurers use selling puts as an effective tool during buybacks. these “yield enhancing” strategies can bring in 10%+/yr

No more shoes off…no more laptop out of bag…all for free when you are 75 or over! Due to my medical situation I often can not walk long distances so I ask for a wheel chair and we buck the lines and sail right through TSA with no hassle at all.
