I know nothing about charting. Except when stocks charts show prices rolling over, things may not be good. This morning I looked at the charts of a few members of the Dow Jones 30. These pictures may tell a thousand words.
The three main indexes have an element of rollover also:
So, figure what you will. My take is equities are not a good place to be at present.
Want to take a little flyer? Try DOG which shorts the Dow; PSQ shorts Nasdaq and SH shorts the S&5 500. Don’t do anything until you see how the market reacts to the 5.7% alleged growth in fourth quarter GDP. Here’s a smple:
Vendors will bargain. Dentists. Retail stores. Propane suppliers. Car repair shops. etc. Anyone and everyone. Read my lips.
As Reverend Ike said, “The best thing you can do for the poor is not to be one of them.“
Postpone your new laptop purchase. Within a month vendors will be introducting laptops with the new Intel i5 microprocessor. The chip is twice as fast as the fastest business laptop. I don’t expect the new i5 machines will be any more expensive than the present ones. My favorite laptop is the Lenovo ThinkPad X200. Lenovo should have a i5 machine out within a month.
The X200 is as powerful as any laptop, but ultra-lightweight — perfect for travel. It has a built-in web cam, speakers and mike. Perfect for doing Skype videos with the grandkids (if I had any).
This is the X200’s super keyboard. I like the red pointing stick in the middle. It’s for moving the cursor around. It’s much faster than mushing your finger around a flat pad.
I love the ballet. Last night we saw Sleeping Beauty. Nice to see a story ballet. This was the cover of last night’s Playbill.
This was the ad on the inside back cover.
Cute?
The Australian Open ends this weekend. Matches are being played on ESPN2 and The Tennis Channel. Make sure you watch in High Def.
The half wit of Montana State. This story seems appropriate for today’s skyrocketing taxes.
A man owned a small ranch in Montana. The Montana Work Force Department claimed he was not paying proper wages to his help and sent an agent out to interview him.
“I need a list of your employees and how much you pay them,” demanded the agent.
“Well,” replied the farmer, “there’s my farm hand who’s been with me for 3 years.. I pay him $200 a week plus free room and board.
“The cook has been here for 18 months, and I pay her $150 per week plus free room and board.
“Then there’s the half-wit. He works about 18 hours every day and does about 90% of all the work around here. He makes about $10 per week, pays his own room and board, and I buy him a bottle of bourbon every Saturday night. He also sleeps with my wife occasionally.”
“That’s the guy I want to talk to … the half-wit,” says the agent.
“That would be me,” replied the Rancher.
Harry Newton, who’s now eyeing the DOG, PSQ and the SH. Boy, is Cramer mad about Qualcomm. He thought it was part of the Mobile Internet Tsunami. Look what just happened as the management reported a lousy quarter:

Harry, I have been out since September 2008 < 7 hours open heart surgry at Hopkins. I have made a ton of money in the mrket. I put evreything I had in enegery in 2003. I had a very nice run. I took my 4 kids , their families including 7 grandkids to Tuscany for 2 weeks in 2007. I made it back in several months. I lost a chunk in September 2008 while the heart lung machine was slowly losing its grip. Luckily I had bailed out about 70% in late 2007 early 2008. You kept saying cash is king. Where do I find an entry point now. As a little guy I am afraid of our government, I firmly believe now they play favorites with business and industries even down to single companies.. Schumer is getting into the real estate business.
Sellers made their move weeks ago. It was the thing to do after the run-up. Those same sellers then bought the dips on leaked news of the growth stats which, by the way, are artificial and based on government pump priming. As for Cramer: he's a shill. Why don't people get that?
Harry – Even though I make my window full screen, (17″ monitor at 1024×768) the right edge of the graphs are getting cut off.
Possible solutions:
The things in the right column move over to the left column, thus giving you more real estate.
The graphs be made a bit smaller.
I buy a bigger monitor.
Alan – If you use IE8 (and perhaps earlier versions) you can just change the zoom temporarily of your browser. It's found in the lower right hand corner and looks like a magnifying glass. I also run at 1024×768 just because of my poor eyesight. By changing the zoom to 75% I can see the graphs and then click back to 100% to read the text.
Hold down your CTRL key and scroll your mouse wheel. Instant zoom…
