Inauguration Day. Sanity returns, finally. The stockmarket explodes — especially our tech stocks. Thank you Netflix.

Is everyone watching? I can’t stop tearing up. A nightmare is over.

My daughter Claire writes:

Such a good day. Finally some grace and a return to normalcy. Biden/Harris will hopefully be able to make some much needed reforms. It will be terrific to get to a point where we’re NOT thinking about the presidency all the time. Where it just runs in an orderly and not embarrassing/horrific way. Can’t wait for decency and empathy to return to the White House.

The front page of today’s New York Times:

As an immigrant myself, I’m so happy that 11 million human beings will finally achieve dignity and peace of mind.

Meantime, the stockmarket is celebrating by exploding. Yikes.

Sit back. Enjoy the day. You earned it.

Yesterday Susan and I snagged covid vaccination appointments for tomorrow at a community college in Hudson. NY, very near where we’re living. It was wonderful news. We’re ecstatic.

Final Trump funny from Borowitz

White House Warns People Buying Pardons That Counterfeit Pardons Are Being Sold Online

“It’s very sad that there are scammers out there willing to take advantage of well-meaning felons,” a Trump staffer said yesterday.

Trump pardoned Steve Bannon who had been arrested and charged with defrauding donors in private effort to raise money for Trump’s border wall.

It starts shortly.

Lady Gaga will sing the national anthem.

Yesterday she wrote on Instagram:

I pray tomorrow will be a day of peace for all Americans. A day for love, not hatred. A day for acceptance not fear. A day for dreaming of our future joy as a country. A dream that is non-violent, a dream that provides safety for our souls. Love, from the Capitol 🇺🇸

Amen. See you tomorrow — Harry Newton
