Some days you look (and feel) brilliant. Some days you don’t.

The key is to ignore the emotion — if you can. This week has been wonderful. Today… probably yuch. Time to pick up some bargains. Stocks will be on sale.

M&A in coal. This news is good for coal companies, including ICO, PCX, BTU and WLT.

Walter Energy (WLT) to Buy Western Coal for $3.3 Billion Walter Energy said Friday that it had agreed to buy Western Coal in a deal that values the company at 3.3 billion Canadian dollars ($3.3 billion).

Walter, an American coal company, will pay 11.50 Canadian dollars or 0.114 Walter shares for each outstanding share of Western, a 56 percent premium to the 7.38 Canadian dollars the target company was trading at before it first announced it had entered talks.

The deal follows an announcement on Nov. 18 that the two companies were in talks to merge.

Good news from the Wall Street Journal:

Retailers’ reports of robust November sales offered more evidence that the lackluster U.S. economy may finally be gaining momentum, despite stubbornly high unemployment.

According to 27 retailers tracked by Thomson Reuters, sales at stores open a year or more rose 6% last month, sharply exceeding a year-earlier rise of just 0.5%. Online retailing also showed sizable gains.

Stores coaxed shoppers to open their wallets with four weeks of bargains that culminated in a discount frenzy on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, when lore has it that many retailers tip into the profit column for the year. The final tally for the month suggested that holiday spending may prove to be stronger than expected.

On Friday (this morning) the Labor Department will offer an important new piece of evidence on the strength of the recovery. Economists predict its report will show employers added more than 140,000 jobs in November.

Sadly, this morning, the Labor Department reported a gain of only 39,000. The Journal (and most economists) screwed up.

The unemployment rate stayed at 9.8%, up from 9.6% the previous month. 15.1 million Americans are unemployed — a lot of people. Sad.

Bad for the stockmarket.

Neat new Nikon — the D7000. I don’t have one, yet. But the specs sure look yummy, the price reasonable and the reviews excellent. Read more on dPreview.com

This camera is for weddings, birds, bar mitzvahs and other important family events. It’s too heavy for day-to-day photos. For that, I’m loving my iPhone 4.

Cheapest place to buy is Abt.

Greatest boring shoe.I wear formal shoes to weddings, bar mitzvahs and funerals. My feet (or brain?) no longer can tolerate the old stiff all leather shoes. I love Rockport. They may be alta kaka (old people’s) shoes. But they sure fool everyone.

Leather top. Comfy insides. Rubbery bouncy sole. $110 from Rockport.

No Christmas in Washington this Year

There will be no Nativity Scene in Washington this year.

The Supreme Court has ruled that there cannot be a Nativity Scene in the United States’ Capital this Christmas season. This isn’t for any religious reason. They simply have not been able to find Three Wise Men in the nation’s capital.

The search for a Virgin continues. There was no problem, however, finding enough asses to fill the stable.

Dark in here

A woman takes a lover home during the day while her husband is at work.

Her 9-year old son comes home unexpectedly, sees them and hides in the bedroom closet to watch.

The woman’s husband also comes home. She puts her lover in the closet, not realizing that the little boy is in there already.

The little boy says, ‘ Dark in here.’

The man says, ‘Yes, it is.’

Boy: ‘I have a baseball..’

Man: ‘That’s nice’

Boy: ‘Want to buy it?’

Man: ‘No, thanks.’

Boy: ‘My Dad’s outside.’

Man: ‘OK, how much?’

Boy: ‘$250’

In the next few weeks, it happens again that the boy and the lover are in the closet together.

Boy: ‘Dark in here.’

Man: ‘Yes, it is.’

Boy: ‘I have a baseball glove.’

The lover, remembering the last time, asks the boy, ‘How much?’

Boy: ‘$750’

Man: ‘Sold.’

A few days later, the Dad says to the boy, ‘Grab your glove, let’s go outside and have a game of catch.’

The boy says, ‘I can’t, I sold my baseball and my glove.’

The Dad asks, ‘How much did you sell them for?’

Boy: ‘$1,000’

The Dad says, ‘That’s terrible to over charge your friends like that…that is way more than those two things cost.

I’m taking you to church, to confession.’

They go to the church and the Dad makes the little boy sit in the confessional booth and closes the door..

The boy says, ‘Dark in here.’

The priest says, ‘Don’t start that stuff again; you’re in my closet now.

Harry Newton who has been involved in a bunch of family matters. He hasn’t had his head on investments — except that the last few days of boom have confirmed his belief in his own brilliance. Today will probably deflate that idiocy. Time to check out those Canadian corporate bonds. Have a great weekend.

Men being affected by cardiovascular disease, the history of cardiovascular system attacks and cerebrovascular events, are not able to make normal intercourse. Including intercourse to be reckoned by using, but they will not use. Viagra. Viagra, after expanding your whole cavernous, allowing exactly the same to kayak straight down the blood straight into them, that might charge the circulatory process. Hence it is not feasible to charge of sex. Viagra is a very effective drug, I would recommend it to all who wish to make really like without restriction. Prior to deciding to take Viagra, it really is worthwhile, nonetheless, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Without the use of Viagra, is usually very harmful and cause more hurt than good.

A great business to own is Abt (where you recommend people purchase the Nikon camera). This store must do more sales than any Best Buy store out there. And the best part if you live in the Chicago area where they are located you can negotiate any price, even merchandise that is on sale.

I outgrew Rockports years ago after wearing them for 30 years…now do yourself a favor and checkout SAS shoes. Yes, they are truly an old man's shoe…like you have never seen before. They are feather light and feel like you had worn them for years from the moment you put them on. I walked over 600 miles in a pair and they hardly looked worn. They are not cheap, Harry. If I can afford them you certainly can. They are like taking care of your teeth, worth every penny. I like the Pathfinder $250-275.There Bravo sandals are like walking barefoot $140.
